When a voice is violently ripped out of her body, she wakes up lost, alone, and thirsty. She must scour her way across deserts and through memories to reconnect with herself. In Water Play, a new musical by Allison Spann, an assault spurs a quest to find healing through togetherness. After trauma, where does I end, and where does You begin?

Water Play was developed from conception to production with student designers and performers as a part of Princeton University’s theatre thesis season. Featuring music for piano, voice, and looping pedal, this unconventional new work dazzles through an eclectic dreamland of ballads, jazz standards, church hymns, and soundscapes.
